The time of summer holidays is gone and our technology centre is buzzing with activity again. Exhibitions of the Dakar specials are about to start, only to be followed by testing and technical modifications. Our goal is crystal clear – set up the technology and create the best possible conditions for the next year of the world’s most famous rally, the renowned Dakar.
We are going to introduce the Dakar truck from our workshop on the upcoming weekend at the finals of the popular Optifuel Challenge 2015 race in Prague’s Čestlice. Eight best participants are going to match their abilities and skills in different disciplines at the Renault Trucks Prague truck centre. Two of them will be declared Czech champions in fuel-economy driving and proceed to the international finals. “We have enjoyed a long-term co-operation with Renault Trucks. Admittedly, the Dakar special is not a prototype of a fuel-economic car but we are all trying our best to make this truck not only as fast, but also as environmentally friendly as possible. After all, even the Dakar organizers make no compromise in this respect and the topic of ecology is still hot,“ commented the team’s boss and chief designer Mario Kress, who is going to continue from Čestlice straight to the French town of Fontjoncouse. “At the beginning of the week we’re going to conduct extensive tests of the shock-absorbers adjustment,“ informed us Mario.
Another week later the team are going to move on two thousand kilometres northeast and settle in the Slovak Senica, more specifically the Záhorie military district, for a few days. “In addition to testing in Slovakia, we’re planning technical lectures focused on the comparison of a racing special and a common truck, which the concept has been derived from. These are intended for Renault Trucks partners and customers who are going to arrive from all around Europe,“ commented the team’s executive Klára Kress, also hinting at some testing directly at races ahead of us.
