In Morocco, hardships do not end. This year's rally is definitely not a walk in the park. In the 2nd stage, the North Bohemian truck from the MKR Technology workshop had to fight with the pitfalls of the treacherous track as well. In the end, however, the Dutch pilot Gert Huzink was able to take bet silver position.
"Technology is really suffering here. You would cry when you see the condition in which the trucks arrive at their destination, not only ours. It's hard for everyone. We had to stop several times today and change tires literally torn apart. This time we lost a lot of time. Otherwise, I dare say we should be the fastest at the course," commented Mario Kress, lead designer of the hybrid truck of the Riwald Dakar Team.
The second stage from Tan Tan to Laayoune was almost four hundred and forty kilometers long, including almost three hundred and twenty kilometers of timed sections. After the hardships of the previous day, when the technicians had to repair a heavily damaged rear axle, Gert Huzink worked his way to the front quite quickly. At the one hundred and twentieth kilometer he was already second and kept the silver position until the finish line. Due to several stops when we had to change tires, he lost just over half an hour. The race was dominated by the Czech crew with pilot Martin Macík, who is also leading the race in the overall ranking. Gert Huzink jumped to sixth place in the overall ranking.
On Tuesday, the race continues with the 3rd stage, starting and finishing in Laayoune. The stage is three hundred and twenty kilometers long and includes a measured timed section of exactly three hundred kilometers.
