Martin celebrates third consecutive gold in Morocco

North Bohemia’s Renault special built by MKR Technology added yet another gold at the Morocco Desert Challenge. The hattrick was recorded by the Czech-Dutch crew with the pilot Martin van den Brink in stage four, further solidifying their lead.
“Except for the bad luck with punctured tyres on the first racing day, it‘s been a dreamy development here. Everyone would wish for that. First half of the race fit us great and I believe that we’ll be able to continue this rhythm into the second half,” commented Daniel Kozlovský, crew mechanic from Roudnice nad Labem.
His truck handled the almost 280km stage in four hours fifteen minutes. Second place was occupied by the Portuguese Jacinto with a 30 minute margin and third by the Belgian Bouwens. Van den Brin’s team mate from the Riwald Dakar team Gert Huzink finished just a few seconds behind the podium. “The crew had to replace a punched tyre and then the guys made a mistake in the navigation, but then they thrived in the dunes and tried to make up for the lost time,” said Mario Kress, chief constructor of North Bohemia’s MKR Technology.
No changes occurred in the overall ranking, as the Kozlovský-van den Brink crew continue to lead, followed by a second truck from Židovice with Gert Huzink at the steering. Third place is occupied by Jacinto.
Stage four too the crews to Erg Chebbi. Monacco’s pearl and the most beautiful dune area is sire to offer some amazing views. Right in the first part of the stage they will have to tackle it from the north to the south. In total, they are about to undergo four special sections in the dunes which stretch over 230km.
