The North Bohemian design team MKR Technology will send three racing trucks to the Dakar. The trio of Renaults will ride in the white and green colors of the Dutch team Riwald Dakar. Although the most famous long-distance rally starts in more than a month, the equipment is moving to Marseille in these days, from where it will sail to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of December, so that it can start the 45th edition of the legendary race right on New Year's Eve.
"We have completed the last testing in Poland, where we made last little adjustments. The guys had a good time, but all the racing equipment is ready for the Dakar, now all that remains is to pack everything and prepare it for the technical inspections and the subsequent trip to Arabia," commented the head of the MKR Technology team, Mario Kress.
Racing equipment for the Dakar Rally is heading to Saudi Arabia for the fourth time. The race moved to the Arabian Peninsula in 2020 after ten years in South America. This time too, the rally will be full of novelties. As Mario Kress already indicated, the first are the technical inspection themselves. "They are still being completed in Europe. It is an effort to eliminate all possible technical problems. Whoever doesn't pass, doesn't leave for Dakar," smiled Mario Kress.
This year, the equipment sails from the French port of Marseille at the beginning of December. The last three days of November are for technical inspections. The world's most demanding two-week race will run from December 31 to January 15, 2023. The route will take pilots from the beaches of the Red Sea to the sands of the Arabian Gulf in Dammam. This crossing of the country will be extremely complex as the 14 stages will first take Dakar into the northwestern highlands, then head deep southeast for a three-day journey through the ocean of dunes in the Empty Quarter, the fourth largest sand desert in the world. The organizers will introduce the details of this year's route, as well as the participants, to the fans and above all to the competitors themselves on Thursday, December 1.
But one thing is certain. The MKR Technology team prepared three special Renault Trucks for the race. The hybrid version of the Renault C 460 will traditionally be driven by the Dutch pilot Gert Huzink, the second truck will be driven by Pascal de Baar and the third K 520 will be piloted by Adwin Hoondert. "All three will work together and help each other. We regret that the traditional Preprologue will not take place in Holland this year, where the Dutch crews always met spectacularly in front of their fans before the race itself, so the big showdown really awaits us at the Dakar itself. I believe that this year in the next edition we will have more luck and we will succeed. It is essential to bring everyone to the finish line in good health, and if we are in the top five, then we can talk about a dream coming true," Mario Kress outlined his ambitions.
