Confirmed! The closely observed IAA commercial vehicles in Hannover saw the partnership deal between the North Bohemia based MKR Technology and Renault Trucks signed. Several years ago the connection brought the Constructors‘ trophy at the European Truck Racing Championship, but this time both partners are headed off-road. Renault Trucks president himself together with the designer Mario Kress presented the already running project MKR Adventure to the public.
“We‘ve been working with Renault Trucks for a long time already. Their support helped us achieve some amazing results, but after the factory endorsement ended we transfered to distance racing and managed to capture the car brand’s attention when we triumphed in a Dakar stage or achieved an overall win at Rally OiLibya in Morocco. Now we have struck another important partnership deal which will help us continue and further develop our activities,” commented Klára Kress, manager of MKR Technology who attended the exhibition with her husband, the renowned designer Mario Kress.
Naturally, the Dakar special built at MKR Technology’s workshop could not be missed, coming straight from the testing in the Slovak Senica. North Bohemia’s team’s rally project MKR Adventure was presented by Bruno Blin, President of Renault Trucks himself, and Mario Kress witnessed by journalists from all over the world. At the same time preparations for the new Rally OiLibya, which will take place from 1 October to 7 October, were in full swing. This time MKR Technology will be represented by a single truck piloted by the Dutch Gert Huzink of the Riwald Dakar Team. The North Bohemia based crew mechanic Daniel Kozlovský will also be in the cockpit. “This is Gert‘s first race in our truck. It’s a new truck which he was first driving in Senica, so it‘ll take some getting used to. So it‘s pretty much a test rally and mainly preparation for the Dakar,” mentioned Klára Kress.
Rally OiLibya racing schedule started with a 7-kilometre long sprint on Sunday. Huzink excelled, finishing second in the Open category and winning among trucks.
