MKR truck dominated the 5th stage in Morocco

MKR Technology celebrates another victory in the Morocco Desert Challenge. Gert Huzink, the Dutch pilot of North-Bohemian truck took gold in stage 5. The second special truck with Roudnice-born Kozlovský finished third with minimal loss.
“Today we went really great. We went without much trouble and got into the dunes that Martin literally loves, so we were overtaking a lot and enjoyed the stage. If it wasn't for a few things, I have no doubt that we could still be higher and even win, so we would have actually repeated the initial stage, where we won the double,”Daniel Kozlovsky, the on-board technician, was satisfied with third fastest time of the Mammoet Rallysport red team truck.
This year's edition turned into second somewhere in the middle of the 318km-long 5th stage from Foum Zguid Zagora. And here came first sand section in tricky dunes. Both Renault Trucks from Židovice did a great job in those dunes. Gert Huzink of Riwald Dakar made it first over the line and took the fastest time. Martin van den Brink, his compatriot from Mammoet Rallysport Martin was just two and half minutes slower. “In the beginning there were dusty roads and we had to overtake a lot. We lost some time there. On the route, we also took a wrong turn once and had to come back, and that is exactly the time lost to the podium, because otherwise Martin was doing great and I could see how he was enjoying it in the dunes,”added the Czech technician Kozlovský.
After the stage there were changes in the overall ranking. The race is now led by Sergei Vyazovich with MAZ. Martin van den Brink remains in fifth position in unofficial results and Gert Huzink, the winner of the stage, jumped one place higher. He is now holding eighth place.
On Thursday, the sixth day of the race, three hundred and seventy kilometres from Zagora to Merzouga are scheduled. This section was designed by the race director himself. The stage is a classic desert scene with sandy plains from Fazzou to Marabout, canyon of Mharech, dunes Ouzina, but above all a magical landscape with giant sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.
