The North Bohemian team MKR Technology is preparing a completely new racing truck for the Dutch pilot Martin van den Brink. The team around Mario Kress signed a new three-year contract with the driver of the Mammoet Rallysport team, so both parties can continue to work on the development of the Dakar special truck.
"We have been slowed down a lot by the coronavirus pandemic. We are all looking forward to the end of these times. It's not about working in the workshop, there is always a lot to do, but one would like to see that it makes sense. After all, I need to race. This is the main icing on the cake, which we are waiting for. And the fans are in the same situation. The newly signed cooperation with Martin thus allows us to continue to work on the new truck and its innovations, which will subsequently lead us to so much sought success," said Mario Kress, head of the MKR Technology team.
However, once it comes down to technical specifications, Mario remains silent. One thing is clear - the Dutchman Martin van den Brink will change his racing truck for a new one. He used to drive his typical red Renault with a red front called Sherpa, but now he will be driving special Renault Truck C460, which seems, at first glance, to be a visual copy of the hybrid truck, that Kress used at Dakar last year, as the first in the world to ever do so. "Hybrid is still a very alive project, and we are tuning it into perfection. It is an extremely interesting journey that we have set out on and that we definitely do not want to leave. In fact, we are working on it, we want relentlessly to move forward with this special project, it is a joint project with the Riwald Dakar team and despite the initial success, it is not the only way we will take,” explained Mario Kress, who has just celebrated life anniversary. On Wednesday, he turned fifty. "No worries, I still have enough strength. Rather than feeling like a man in his fifties, I feel like I had twenty five twice," smiles the fresh jubilant, who is still going full gas. This week, he and his team are actually preparing for the final four-day testing in Poland.
