The truck of the North Bohemian team MKR Technology is preparing for the last sharp test before the Dakar in January. The team will start with the pilot of the Dutch Riwald Dakar team, Gert Huzink, in the next edition of the Morocco Rally on Thursday.
"We made a lot of changes in the team this year - the most in the past decade. We worked a lot, tested and focused on the details of the vehicle. We worked with Riwald much more intensively this time, and the Moroccan rally will be a big test of all innovations for us," said Mario Kress, the head of the Czech MKR Technology development team.
Before the entire team moved to the venue of the autumn race in Morocco, they completed final testing in Poland in the second half of September, where they put the trucks through a very demanding test of thousands of kilometers. However, only the Renault racing hybrid special truck piloted by Gert Huzink moved to Morocco. Last year, he won there three silver positions. He finished sixth overall. The year before, he managed to win the same number of stages and celebrated silver in the overall ranking. He would certainly like to improve his record this year. "Any podium position will be a nice bonus, but the final data from the truck under full load of the truck before the Dakar is important for us," noted designer Mario Kress.
The Moroccan rally starts on Thursday, October 12th, and will last until Wednesday, October 18th. The team moved to the race venue at the beginning of the week. The race will then start with Friday's 119-kilometer prologue in Agadir, and from Saturday to Wednesday there are five regular hard stages on the program. In total, the crews will have to travel over two thousand two hundred kilometers, with almost sixteen hundred kilometers of timed sections. The race will end on Wednesday in the city of Merzouga.
