The North Bohemian truck from MKR Technology finished just below the podium. Friday's sixth stage of the Silk Way Rally was piloted by Martin van den Brink in the fourth fastest time and continues to rank fifth.
"Yesterday we thought the truck was just fine, but then we went to run a test drive where we heard something was ripping at our bike. It was a spilled bearing, so we worked on the rear differential until three in the morning. Thanks to this, we prevented any major problem in the stage and that was why it was without any complications,”Roudnice mechanic Daniel Kozlovský said.
Finally, Martin van den Brink, a four hundred-kilometer-long special from Mandalg to Dalanzadgad, drove in the fourth fastest time. Behind the victorious Belarusian Vjazovič fell by less than five minutes.“At the beginning we enjoyed the woods at times, but in Mongolia now there are just plain landscapes and an open landscape. These are fast routes and are driven by the brake-gas style. It will be a little different in China,“ said Daniel Kozlovský, describing the Silk Way events, as he also confirmed the sad event that happened in the race. "During the Thursday stage, a service delivery accident occurred to the Hino team, where one of the locals died. I don't know what happened, probably two cars collided. We were passing by and it was ugly. The Hino team retired from the race and we just realized how simply human life could go out,” Kozlovsky said.
As the top five of the overall standings were alternating in the 6th stage in the elite five, there were no changes in the overall results table. The leading position is confirmed by Belarusian Vjazovich, who is chased by a trio of Kamazs - Shibalov, Karginov and Mardejev. The fastest one loses over a quarter of an hour. The fifth Martin van den Brink with the Jewish Renault lags behind fifty minutes.
Saturday's 6th stage, five hundred and fifty kilometers long, is only transport. Crews will move from Mongolia to China. The race will start again on Sunday in the 7th stage from Bayinbaolige to Alashan. In sum, this will be the longest crossing of this year's edition. The teams will have to deal with nearly eight hundred kilometers, which will be nearly three hundred and thirty.
