We Prepared Action-packed Days for Renault Trucks

One week in Slovakia’s Záhorie military area brought us not only some valuable data, but also great prestige. We organized unique adventure days for the European clients of our Renault Trucks partner.

„Based on the excellent long-standing co-operation with Renault Trucks we designed and fully organized an action-packed event where Renault Trucks‘ partners from more than ten European countries could try out driving a Dakar special and other adrenaline activities,“ commented Klára Kress, executive manager of MKR Technology.

At the MKR Adventure event guests and journalists from Czech, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia or Hungary could experience racing in Dakar specials piloted by the Dutch drivers Martin van den Brink and Pascal de Baar. Afterwards, they got the opportunity to become pilots themselves, as they raced against the clock through the sands of the military area in small buggies and underwent an off-the-road driving skills‘ test in the new Renault Trucks K Range model or a „go and stop“ race in its little brother T Range on a road section finished off with a cone. The clock stopped only after the pilots reached the cone – without knocking it over! „It was just great seeing how excited the guests were. For many this was a first-time experience. Merely riding off-road in a Dakar truck makes many people euphoric. And because we have set up the whole day as one big adventure, everyone was leaving with a grin from ear to ear on their face, which made me really happy in turn,“ confessed Klára.

During the day the guests gained not only new experiences, but also some solid knowledge. The technical part was tutored by the renowned truck constructor Mario Kress. „Naturally, I always get asked how much it actually costs to build a Dakar special that’s capable of reaching the top ranks. Nevertheless, many people are fascinated by the difference between a road truck and a truck that really sets off to the Dakar. They found out that we’re using some unique elements that no one has applied before and that we contribute to the development of components and materials that help in everyday life in common transport,“ MKR Adventure’s boss Mario Kress brought to our attention.

The adventure days for Renault Trucks included the hospitality of two Mobile Bars with top-quality catering. At the end, two winners were announced who are going to take part in the OiLibya Rally together with MKR Technology and Mammoet Rallysport (3-9 October) in Morroco. „We want the winners to experience an authentic rally feeling, that’s why they’re going to stay with us the entire time, so no hotel beds, but real conditions including sleeping in a bivouac,“ pointed out Klára.

The extraordinary adventure in Senica was followed by a similar event with the Bonver Dakar Project team, which builds racing powertrains for MKR. However, this time the adrenaline show was connected with a spectacular 40th birthday party of the pilot Tomáš Vrátný. „Simply speaking, it was big and really great. We wish Tomáš all the best and hope for his dreams come true at the Dakar also thanks to our engines,“ commented Klára with a smile.

In addition to the unique European presentation of the Dakar project, we had enough time to fulfil our testing plans during the week. “We’re still in the stage when the Dakar comes first before anything else. You can’t replace the kilometres tested in real off-road terrain, and so we’re testing away. The more, the better. There’s the OiLibya Rally ahead of us, and so we want to be at our best. It’s going to be another real-life test, which is indispensable. Every test like this is priceless. At this stage we’re quite far down the road already but it’s still quite a way to the finish. But looking back at how far we’ve gone, we’re in a completely difference position than this time last year. I’m happy about the progress we’ve made,“ summed up Mario, satisfied with the development.
