The best Czech-born racer of this year’s Dakar was Jaroslav Valtr on eighth place. However, the best Czech truck actually finished two ranks ahead of him. On sixth position at the finish in Rosario was the Dutch pilot Pascal de Baar on a truck constructed by the North Bohemia based MKR Technology team. Moreover, the team of Czech mechanics and constructors around the project’s boss Mario Kress provided him with technical assistance during the 38th year of the world’s toughest rally. And so the best Czech truck was actually the Renault Trucks number 529.
Rosario –The fight is over! 38th year of the world’s toughest rally has come to its end. On Saturday the legendary Dakar finished in the Argentinian town of Rosario. Following two weeks of hard-core racing, it will be the team from the north of the Czech Republic who will celebrate big time, as it is clear now that the best Czech truck in the starting field had been constructed by MKR Technology, based in Židovice. With the Dutch pilot Pascal de Baar behind the wheel the Renault Trucks special achieved a fantastic sixth rank. The champion this year is his fellow countryman Gérard de Rooy.
San Juan – The famous Dakar is coming to its end. The crews just finished the penultimate stage, in which Pascal de Baar, on a truck constructed by MKR Technology, landed a great sixth place, a position he occupies also in the overall ranking. The Dutch pilot is thus close to a result of a lifetime. There is only the last, thirteenth, stage to Rosario, which will conclude the 38th Dakar Rally on Saturday.
The crews have tackled another very hard stage of the 38th Dakar Rally. Although this year’s Dakar is coming to its end soon, the organizers do not spare anyone. Not only that the eleventh episode was one of the longest, but it was spiced up by the dunes one last time and the extremely fine fesh-fesh sand. Following yesterday’s victory Pascal de Baar brought his Renault Trucks special to the finish on tenth place.
Incredible news, huge sensation, fantastic result! The North-Bohemia based MKR Technology truck wins a Dakar Rally stage! The Dutch pilot Pascal de Baar brought his Renault Trucks special to the finish of stage ten in the absolutely fastest time, sweeping to a historic victory for himself as well as the Mammoet Rallysport team and the North Bohemia based constructor. Emotions and exhilaration are all the more untamed considering the fact that this was one of the hardest stages in the history of the famous competition.
Hell on Earth. That is exactly what the crews felt like at the Dakar Rally’s stage nine on Tuesday. In many respects, it reminded one of the preceding episode - like stage eight it was dominated by the Dutch de Rooy, while his fellow countryman de Baar was slowed down by a tyre defect. In spite of that, as well as the scorching heat that drove a number of drivers to the verge of breakdown, eventually cutting the stage short, the pilot of the North Bohemia’s Renault Trucks special landed on a great eleventh place. As a result, he is back in the elite ten of the overall ranking.
The Dakar Rally participants got a taste of the sand dunes for the first time this year, starting the second half of the world’s toughest rally following the one-day break. Stage eight on Monday opened the concluding week of the famous competition. This time neither Pascal de Baar managed to stay out of trouble. The pilot of the north-Bohemian Renault Trucks special had to change a tyre. Eventually, he crossed the finish line on sixteenth place.
The Dakar Rally is past the first racing week and Saturday’s stage seven opened its second half. So far the lead has been extremely even and the order, including the leader’s, changes everyday. Pilot of the Renault Trucks special Pascal de Baar finished on the fourteenth and left the elite ten with a tight margin. Sunday will be a well-deserved day off for the crews.
Even after the crews entered the mountains Pascal de Baar easily maintains his position in the elite ten of the trucks’ category. The Dutch pilot driving a Renault from the North Bohemia based MKR Technology has been successfully dealing with the altitude as well. In stage six he finished on nineteenth place and sticks to his ninth rank overall.
The Dakar Rally crews have tackled the marathon stage. While two days without the help from the mechanics put an end to Aleš Loprais’ participation in the race, Pascal de Baar on his Renault Trucks special by MKR Technology managed to return to the elite ten. After stage 5 he occupies ninth place in the overall ranking.
For two days the Dakar Rally crews have now been without their mechanics or any other help from the outside. On the schedule is the marathon stage, in which the crews have only themselves to rely on. Moreover, the 4th stage took the competitors to the mountains, over three thousand metres of altitude and higher. However, Pascal de Baar gave an excellent performance, losing only 14 minutes on the winner de Rooy and finishing on 14th place.
As if he wanted to prove that the Dakar is not yet over for the MKR Technology and Mammoet Rallysport teams after the team leader Martin van den Brink’s truck ended up in flames. His team mate Pascal de Baar finished on twelfth place in stage three and currently occupies tenth position in the overall ranking.
