The 38th Dakar Rally had a dramatic start indeed. The opening prologue was cancelled due to an accident involving a racing car hitting several spectators. Afterwards, the weather had the final say before Stage 1 even started, and so the organizers decided to put a halt to it. If nothing happens, the Dakar will really begin on Monday with its second stage.
Here it comes! The world’s toughest rally, the renowned Dakar, has started! More than two weeks of toil and sweat starts with Saturday’s festive prologue. On Sunday the crews will be challenged for the first time in stage one. Members of the north-Bohemia based MKR technology team are good to go and waiting for the race to start in South America.
There’s no going back. The north-Bohemia based MKR Technology team have set off for their second Dakar. On Thursday all technology boarded a ferry and sailed off to South America. The farewell was as big as the expectations we have about the upcoming year of the rally. After all, it was our truck that helped Martin van den Brink win the rehearsal race - the OiLibya Rally.
He spent days and nights in sand and dust, ran around in a dirty overall, had to deal with exhaustion, strain and stress of a professional mechanic, but all of that allowed him to experience the joy of victory and the euphory that comes in the finish when the race is over and you have a firm belief that you were the best in the field. Tomáš Sova was one of the two lucky guys to whom Renault Trucks gave the opportunity to become members of MKR Technology and Mammoet Rallysport in the golden OiLibya Rally in Morocco, where the Dakar special from the Czech Republic triumphed. Even after several days you can sense excitement and joy from the lucky winner.
MKR Technology together with Mammoet Rallysport team recorded its first historical gold in a rally. Their Dakar special, constructed for the Dutch, won the prestigious OiLibya Rally in Morocco. The euphoria and joy is incredible. The golden boy, pilot Martin van den Brink left behind even the Dakar champion Gerard de Rooy and his new partner Aleš Loprais.
Dreams comes true. We won our first rally! Martin van den Brink takes the gold from the Rally OiLibya in Morocco. In the last stage, he finished in the second place and in overall is the winner. Martin leaves behind him the Dakar winner Gerard de Rooy or Aleš Loprais. The Nord Czech team MKR Technology celebrate the braking point. Our camion is in great condition before the Dakar.
Our pilot Martin van den Brink is silver again. In th 4th stage of Rally OiLibya, he finished in the second fastest time. Martin keeps the leader position before the last stage. His colleague Pascal de Baar finished at the fifth place and Tomáš Vrátný as the eighth in the stage.
Out pilot Martin van den Brink completed the medal collection in the course of three stages of Rally OiLibya. He added the silver today after gold and bronze. Martin is a leader of the overall classification just now. In the third stage, Tomáš Vrátný finished at sixth and Pascal de Baar at eighth position.
After the initiative victory, we gained the bronze position this time. Martin van den Brink drove the third fastest time in the second stage of Rally OiLibya. He left behind the winner of Dakar Gerard se Rooy who finished as the fourth. Tomáš Vrátný reached the finish line as the eighth, Pascal de Baar as the twenty-eighth. Van den Brink is the second man of the overall standing.
First stage and first winning! Our pilot Martin van den Brink won the first stage of 370 km at Rally OiLibya in Morocco. On the amazing eight position, Tomáš Vrátný from Bonver Dakar Project finish the stage. Pascal de Baar was driving for the fourth position, but an accident stopped him and he finisth at the fiftheenth.
On Monday the OiLibya Rally started in Morroco. The five-stage „tour“ is a final run-through for us before the legendary Dakar.
