A win for a start! What better way to open this year’s Silk Way Rally? Both trucks from the North Bohemia based MKR Technology seized a spot at the winners’ podium. The Dutch pilot Martin van den Brink was the fastest one in the field and his fellow countryman Pascal de Baar occupied third place.
The last live testing and then a transfer to Moscow. Members of the MKR Technology racing team have been rather busy lately. It was due to the fact that one of the most difficult rallies of the world starts next week – Russian Silk Way, compared by many with the renowned Dakar. The new special from the North Bohemian technology centre is to be introduced in the racing role for the first time, and its ambitions are far from humble this time.
A great surprise! No other words better fit to describe the plan of the North Bohemia based racing team MKR Technology. In addition to the K520 truck, they are planning to start with one more truck in the prestigious Silkway Rally in Russia, which is considered a ‘dress rehearsal‘ of sorts for the famous Dakar. First tests are finished and the results are more than surprising.
A dream come true! The truck constructed by the North Bohemia based MKR Technology lands at the top of the overall ranking in this year’s Libya Rally in Morocco. The crew of the Dutch pilot Martin van den Brink and MKR’s very own crew mechanic Daniel Kozlovský dominated in the last, seventh stage! Following four consecutive wins the trio made their way up to the top and are taking home a precious victory from Africa.
Fantastic! Already a third win in the past three stages of the Libya Rally has been collected by the MKR Technology truck. The crew including a mechanic from Roudnice dominated in the penultimate sixth stage, moving to second place in the overall ranking. Therefore, the team have boosted their chances of overall victory. Thus the last stage is going to decide everything.
The MKR Technology team truck has achieved a second consecutive victory in the Moroccan Libya Rally. The pilot Martin van den Brink brought it to the finish line of stage five in the fastest time. As a result, the crew including a Roudnice crew mechanic moves up to the winners’ podium of the overall ranking two days before the rally’s end.
At last! The MKR team triumphed in the fourth stage of the Libya Rally. After three days of misfortunes the team is celebrating a fantastic win and jumps up in the overall ranking, in which the crew including a crew mechanic from Roudnice currently occupies fourth place.
Martin van den Brink, pilot of the Dutch-Czech truck in the Libya Rally, had a stroke of bad luck again. In the third stage his crew worked their way through to the lead when suddenly they had a hard time finding the right waypoint. Because the crew did not succeed in locating it, they were penalized. As a result, they are occupying sixth place in the overall ranking.
As hard to believe as it is, a total of three defects slowed down the Dutch-Czech crew in the second sage of the Libya Rally. As a result, the truck constructed in the MKR Technology workshop finished „only“ on sixth place despite having taken the lead a few times during the race.
The first stage of the Libya Rally had an unexpected ending, with the organizers forced to neutralize its outcome. Fortunately, the cause was neither a dramatic accident nor severe weather, which postponed the actual start of this year's Dakar. This time it was the technology's fault, more specifically that of the failing GPS coordinance system. Consequently, crews in the Moroccan race were going to start for real only on Saturday.
For the first time since the legendary Dakar MKR Technology‘s truck is going to leave Židovice for another competition. Morocco is hosting the Libya Rally and the Renault Trucks special is going to be piloted by the Dutch pilot Martin van den Brink there. This time the goal is clear – to test new components to the greatest possible extent and get ready for the Russian Silk Way Rally that takes place in July.
The Czech MKR Technology team is going to build three Renault Trucks racing specials for the 2017 Dakar Rally. In addition to the Mammoet Rallysport team, they newly entered co-operation with the Riwald Dakar team, creating large alliance for the famous race. Third pilot on the K 520 special constructed at the North Bohemia-based technology centre will be Gert Huzink.
