The 45th edition of the Dakar Rally will start this Saturday. Three North Bohemian trucks from the MKR Technology team workshop of designer Mario Kress will also be at the start of the legendary long-distance competition. This year's rally will be different in many ways and the organizers promise that it will definitely be one of the most difficult rallys of the Saudi Arabian era.
The North Bohemian design team MKR Technology will send three racing trucks to the Dakar. The trio of Renaults will ride in the white and green colors of the Dutch team Riwald Dakar. Although the most famous long-distance rally starts in more than a month, the equipment is moving to Marseille in these days, from where it will sail to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of December, so that it can start the 45th edition of the legendary race right on New Year's Eve.
One of the most difficult races has been completed by the MKR Technology team. At the same time, the Morocco Rally was originally supposed to be just a proper test before the famed Dakar. In the end, it was a significantly more demanding test, which brought a whole range of new information and findings. Despite all the problems, Mario Kress' Renault Trucks racer was always able to be on the podium position halfway through each stage, just behind the winner.
The last race test of this year's Rallye Morocco brought silver for the North Bohemian truck from the MKR Technology workshop. Even this time, the crew no doubt can speak about bad luck, which is following them throughout the race. Hi reached the finish line in first position, but the organizers shortened the stage, so the ranking was calculated from the point where pilot Gert Huzink was driving in second place. But in the end, the finish line brought a happy ending.
The fans of the North Bohemian truck racing in the colors of the Dutch Riwald Dakar team were very happy before Wednesday's 4th stage of the Morocco Rally. After yesterday's fire, the technicians managed to repair the truck overnight so that it not only started the next stage, but even "on paper" was going for win. However, before the finish line he was stopped by another flat tire, so he tumbled to fifth place.
If anyone can talk about real bad luck, it's pilot Gert Huzink. It seemed that he would finally celebrate the desired victory in the 3rd stage of the Rallye Morocco, but just six kilometers before the finish line, his truck was turned into flames. Tears of joy were replaced by tears of desperation. But the Dutch pilot of the North Bohemian Renault does not give up.
In Morocco, hardships do not end. This year's rally is definitely not a walk in the park. In the 2nd stage, the North Bohemian truck from the MKR Technology workshop had to fight with the pitfalls of the treacherous track as well. In the end, however, the Dutch pilot Gert Huzink was able to take bet silver position.
Unprecedented bad luck befell a North Bohemian truck right at the opening stage of the Morocco Rally. After Saturday's silver position in prologue, pilot Gert Huzink was leading in the Sunday's 1st stage when he had to stop his special trick because of a damaged rear axle.
The North Bohemian truck from MKR Technology with Gert Huzinek drove the opening pr of the Moroccan rally in the second fastest time. The Dutch pilot was just a few moments short of the quickest Czech racer – Martin Macík.
A North Bohemian truck from the workshop of the MKR Technology crew will start the Moroccan rally today. The racing hybrid special from Mario Kress will again be led by the Dutch pilot from Riwald Dakar Team Gert Huzink.
Dakar Rally, the most famous long-distance competition in the world, has written its 44th chapter this year. And trucks from the workshop of the North Bohemian MKR Technology team were part of it. Mario Kress and his technicians prepared two special Renault trucks for this year, as a part of Dutch team Riwald Dakar. The goal was to reach the top ten. Although this goal was not fulfilled due to accidents, the Czech-Dutch formation is satisfied with the finish line anyway.
This year's 44th Dakar Rally ended the last 12th stage with the figures one and one. Pilot Pascal de Baar passed the final stage in the 11th fastest time and successfully got his Renault to the finish line in Jeddah. In the final ranking, after all the issues, he climbed to fourteenth place.
