Two stages of the Morocco Desert Challenge were just enough for the Czech trucks from MKR Technology’s workshop to complete a medal collection. At the beginning the pilot Martin van den Brink, with the crew mechanic Martin van den Brink onboard, won a bronze medal. In the second stage they managed to win, as their team-mate Gert Huzink added a silver medal. All in all, stage two brought a valuable double podium to them.
Seven new stages, seven new bivouacs. There is a great week-long adventure ahead of the participants of this year’s Morocco Desert Challenge. The trucks competing in Africa will include two from the MKR Technology’s development centre. In fact, a special from the Czech technology centre dominated the race, previously known as the Libya Rally, in 2016.
The fight is over! After two exhausting weeks the 39th Dakar Rally have reached its end. Also the two MKR Technology trucks have arrived at the finish in Buenos Aires. Despite the somewhat mixed feelings of the team from the north of the Czech Republic, with de Baar’s crew having lost their position in the elite five after the previous unlucky day, everyone deserves a great deal of appreciation. Fatigue and exhaustion were beyond belief, but everyone was fighting hard until the very last moment. Although the situation was often hopeless, nobody gave up. The Dakar is about heroes and their heroic performances and these were not to be missed in the case of MKR.
Friday the 13th. Superstitions about the unlucky date and the worries it raises often scare many. Perhaps, after this year’s Dakar members of the North Bohemia based MKR Technology are going to believe the jinx day. The penultimate stage eleven went south in all possible points of view. Both of the racing specials lost a chance for a solid ranking and there was even some doubt as to either of them will cross the finishing line in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
Stage ten of the Dakar Rally made the gaps between the individual teams’ rankings substantial bigger. The ultimate winner is not yet known, but the lead of the race is already getting sharper outlines. Pilot of the Czech Renault Trucks truck Pascal de Baar continues to hold on to fifth rank.

After the unexpected two-day break the Dakar Rally takes off again. Monday’s stage seven marked the beginning of the rally’s second half. However, its end left the crews all alone again, as the marathon part of the famous race, when all teams have to survive without their mechanics and back-up teams, comes up on the schedule. Luckily, performance of Mammoet Rallysport’s Renaults constructed in the north of the Czech Republic was not affected by this.
The Dutch Gérard de Rooy recorded a second consecutive stage win at the Dakar, winning Friday’s special and jumping up to the lead of the famous rally. However, also his fellow countrymen racing on Renaults from the North Bohemia based MKR Technology. Indeed, Pascal de Baar now occupies fifth place in the overall ranking. At the weekend they will get an unexpected opportunity to take some rest. The cancelled Saturday stage will bring the teams the much needed time for service.
A stage of truth. That would be a proper label for the fourth stage of the 38th year of the world’s most famous rally, the legendary Dakar. In it Pascal de Baar racing with a Czech truck from MKR Technology’s workshop attracted a lot of attention with sixth rank, though all eyes were on his team-mate Martin van den Brink, because no one could be sure if he would start in this stage. Fortunately, the whole team pulled off a miracle, enabling the crew to complete the demanding stage without any major loss.
The third Dakar stage led the crews to an altitude of nearly five thousand metres above sea level. With the special divided into two parts, it was not a joyful ride for the MKR Technology constructing team this time. While Pascal de Baar superbly fought his way to Top Ten, his colleague Martin van den Brink lost the lead.
Sensational! Czech Republic celebrates another win at the Dakar. Stage two of the world’s most prestigious rally was dominated by the Czech truck from MKR Technology’s North Bohemia workshop with the Roudnice based mechanic Daniel Kozlovský on the board. The pilot Martin van den Brink brought his Renault Trucks special to the finish in the fastest time, thus soaring to the top of the overall ranking.
