Like in a bad dream. The Russian Silk Way, currently known as the world’s toughest rally, has ended too soon for the MKR Technology constructors team. In leg four of the race technology decided to stop working, regardless of the prospects of a solid result that the team had until then. Unfortunately, they will not get the chance to defend the podium result from last year, as they are going back home with only one stage win.

Crews of the Czech Renault trucks will not think back happily on stage three of the Silk Way Rally. In it Martin van den Brink lost the lead and his two Dutch colleagues from the allied Riwald team virtually any chances of a solid result. Moreover, it is not yet clear whether they will be able to continue the race at all. MKR Technology’s mechanics team promised to try their best overnight to prevent the world’s toughest rally from ending prematurely for either of the two.

The Dakar is a legend, but the Russian Silk Way Rally tries hard to catch up with, or even exceed, its reputation and level of difficulty. Indeed, the organizers promise today that the next year will be even more attractive and competition there stronger. On the starting line there will be also three trucks of MKR Technology’s R&D centre based in the north of the Czech Republic. The one piloted by Martin van den Brink took home a bronze medal last year.
